Big News: We Are Matched!

Adoption Featured Our Adoption Story

It's a boy

After a long season in the adoption waiting room, we are thrilled to report that we have some big news. We have been matched with two beautiful boys from Uganda. They are 9 months old and three years old.

There are still several steps after being matched before our referral becomes official. Our Ugandan attorney and Ugandan adoption facilitator will be working to pull those pieces together this week. We hope to have the referral paperwork in hand and ready to sign within a week or two. Of course, Africa time being what it is, it could take longer, but we hope not.

Once we sign the paperwork, we’ll send the necessary documents to our attorney so she can prepare our dossier for the Ugandan government. Then we wait for our court date. Our agency told us that we could travel as early as April, so we’re snapping into action. There is so much to do.

We got our travel shots last week, and made a huge packing list. We’ve even begun purchasing a few things for the boys. (Oh my goodness—two little ones at two completely different stages of development—so many things we need.)

As you may remember, we had hoped to be matched with twin girls a couple months back, but were waiting to find out if the necessary documentation could be obtained to ensure they were legally adoptable. In the end, it wasn’t possible. Thankfully, God prepared our hearts over the last month to accept that we would not be able to adopt them. In his perfect timing, we were able to let go of that hope and open our hearts to these precious boys.

The boys are not biological siblings, though they will soon be brothers for life. They are being cared for by a wonderful, loving babies home in Uganda until we can come get them. Though they have faced incredible difficulty in their short lives, they seem to be thriving in spite of it all. We feel so honored to be able to welcome them into our family and watch God’s plan of redemption unfold in all of our lives.

Joel and I would be grateful if you would join us in praying that God would prepare the way for all the final pieces to come together as quickly and uneventfully as possible, protecting and providing for our babies until we can bring them home.

We won’t be able to post pictures of the boys until we are granted legal guardianship in Uganda, so we’ll get to build a lot of anticipation before we introduce them publicly:)

So exciting for you guys!!! Hubby and I have 2 boys biologically that are 3 years apart and waiting to be matched with a daughter from China! Just got i800A and waiting on fingerprint appointment. My biggest concern right now is money now that home study is done and things are moving along. My husband is currently unemployed so it’s been tough. Praying with you guys for the rest of the process and seamless transition! God bless!!

Hi my name is Autumn , I dont have Facebook or twitter and was wondering if you had time to connect . We are in the process of adopting a boy from Uganda and this is all so new to me . We lost our boy to SIDS and recently found out I was not ovulating so we chose adoption over fertility. I see you were very successful with your fundraising, would you mind sharing your letter. It’s so hard to word and know how to handle and would appreciate any advice .
    Thank you
